The Poem
Hi.
In many occasions we live every day of our lives focusing on a problem. When we pray to God our prayer seems like a poem which we have memorized because we repeat it time after time. What would you think if every time you meet with a friend he or she talks always exactly the same, or that every time you meet with your partner or parents they tell you exactly the same? We would probably think this person has become obsessed with that topic. How would you feel if every time your child calls you, is to ask for something? Certainly a relationship does not consist solely in talking to the other person to ask the same every time. In a relationship it is necessary to tell the other person how much we love them and how important they are for us, a relationship is nourished by sharing, talking and trusting not only with our problems but also with our joys and happiness.
The same thing happens in our relationship with God which was compared many times in the Bible with the relationship of a mother to a child. It is not just about praying to ask for help to our problems. It is about expressing to Him how important He has been, and it's on us to try to do the things that we know will make Him feel proud as a father. It is about talking with him as a father to whom we tell not only our problems but also our dreams, joys, fears and illusions. Only in this way we can develop a true relationship with our God and we can receive the wonders of His blessings.
To walk together with God is a great blessing for us because from Him we receive protection, wisdom to make decisions, peace, security, and courage to live in a world that is threatened every day by many things.
As I have written in other posts, my husband and I couldn't have children and God had granted us the miracle of having our son, who later told us that he wanted a sibling to play. The doctor told us that it will be a very high risk be pregnant again. I had told him pray to God and He will help you. My son's prayer every night was: "Our father who are in Heavens, thank you for all that you have given us, thank you for your protection, give me a sibling I pray in the name of Jesus amen" One day he told me: "mom I've been asking God for a sibling for years but He doesn't answer me. Why?" I felt very sad. At that moment I say "it is true that you have been asking for a sibling for a long of time, but your prayer is like a poem, every night you say exactly the same thing and very fast and you lie down to sleep immediately after". I told him; "today do it different, open your heart to God as your best friend and explain why it is so important for you to have a sibling, think that He is by your side and open your heart to Him". That day my son prayed a lot of time and among the reason he gave God to ask for a sibling was that his dad and mom were boring. After that moment my child received the answer much faster than we could all imagine.
Today I am a mother of two children, a boy and a girl. My son's prayer was answered when he ceased to pray as a poem and prayer became a true dialogue with his Heavenly Father. I have learned in my life that I should not use prayer alone to ask but also to praise God and tell him the blessings that have made me happy. Remember there is no relationship without communication with God only so we can receive the blessing of His presence in our lives.
Luke 18:1 say " Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart."
Luke 18:7 say " And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night"
