Is it possible to be happy?
Regards:
Throughout our lives we find people who live a life of lamentations, who never are satisfied and seem to believe that the world conspire against them or that they simply came to this world to suffer. These people ara constantly complaining and never feeling well. It is likely that we all have been through it at some point in our lives and if we have not experienced it we are likely to have known someone who did. But the questions we can ask ourselves is: What does happiness provide?
For many, happiness is about money and they spend all their time thinking how to gain more money and say " If I had more money I could be happy, I could buy the house I want , the car I waited long for, I could enroll my children in a good school" but as they search for such called "happiness" they live a life of lamentation and frustration because they believe that they have nothing in the life. They can have good health but they do not value it, they can have good children but they do not value them, they can have good friends but they do not value them, they can have a good home but they do not value it because when comparing it with other they feel inferior. They are not happy because they only put their eyes in the money they wish to get. They spend the days without enjoying a beautiful sunset or a beautiful sunrise, they do not have time to listen to the singing of the birds or enjoy a nice day of rain . And then what happens when they get the money that their heart longed for? The illness arrives in their lives, their children leave the house, close family die and they ask " Why this happens to me?" They think that happiness was not created for them, even now when they finally have money and this happens. Many come to think that God is the one to blame and reveal themselves against Him, walking away from him.
Although I use money as an example the reality is that we can get obsess with many other things. For some the happiness is to be parents and then when they have children they do not have time to dedicate to them and they begin to complain for other things. For example some complain that they no longer have the time to go out alone with their partner or they don't have time to share with their friends, others even complain about their own children. To others it happen with health, they think that recovering the health is the key to happiness and when they have recovered it they don't remember to go to church to give thanks to God and then they become concern about other things and problems. They spend their whole lives searching for the missing card for happiness and when they find it they lose another and continue to live their life of lamentation without observing all the other blessings that God has given them.
When we observe the biblical characters we see that they all faced difficult situation in life but they served God and they were happy. Even many went to death for what they believed in but happy to have known the God of life and salvation. Those who went through the depression lost their focus on God but when they met the teacher they get up and went ahead. So what is the secret of happiness? Is focusing on the blessings that God has given us and not on the problem.
For many years I focused on my health problem. In the morning, afternoon and evening. I thought how to solve it. Every time my husband came home from work I just told him about my health problem. It was a frustration for something that I could not do nothing instead of thinking about everything I had achieved and what I could achieve. I had a career, I worked for twelve years, I have a pension at a very young age, I had two beautiful children, a great husband, a beautiful family and a God who had shown me his love in many ways, but my eyes were focused on the problem instead of the blessings. Then I decided to change the focus and to put my eyes on the blessings and not on the problem and my life began to change. Those feeling of frustration disappeared and opened the way to some feeling accomplishment. I understood that the world was not over and that I had a long way to go from the hand of God and began to experience a life of rejoicing in Christ. I understood everything I could reach and start dreaming again. I understood that God had given me great wings to reach where I wanted to go and show the world that a disease is not a barrier to achieve our dreams and goals if we put our trust in God.
God can turn the greatest pain into your greatest joy. Let God be the architect of our lives and choose to accept the good news that we can do all things in Christ that strengthens us. He or she who have God will not lack anything but he or she who does not have God can have everything and will be of no use to them. If we want to be happy our first step should be to give our lives to GOD.
Psalm 34:19 tell us " Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all."
